WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Understandably so, teams usually get measured by their win-loss record.  Most of us in sport ''get that".  Yet, there are some things that just can't be measured on a scorecard.   

One of my highlights from this past season was going with the team a couple of months ago to participate in a shoe distribution at a local inner city elementary school.  When it was all said and done, we were able to wash the feet and present brand new socks and tennis shoes to over 500 teachers and kids that day.  Try measuring the impact of that!

Even though the regular season is officially over, the journey continues for the Lady Bruins, as they will be playing in the Women's National Invitational Tournament (WNIT) this coming weekend.  These ladies have played their best basketball over the past few weeks, so we are all really excited to see how far they will go in this tournament.  

HOT OFF THE GRIDDLE

Last week, sensing the need to take a break from the normal flow of our weekly BVL meeting, we decided to get a little creative.  With final exams looming around the corner, we thought it would be fun to serve up some pancakes for the student-athletes.  So, as they entered the room, we distributed order forms and gave them a few options to choose from: plain, blueberry, banana, or chocolate chip.  It turned out to be a great idea, as the students enjoyed the time and kept coming back for more.  I would not be surprised to see us do this again in the near future.

ROAD WARRIORS

This past weekend, Jenny and Jaylen were in St. Louis, Missouri for a volleyball tournament.  Though Jaylen's team didn't get the outcome they had wanted, they still enjoyed a great experience competing together and even doing a little sight seeing.

HITTING THE SAND

Jenny's sand volleyball squad officially kicked off their season a few weeks ago competing against Cal State Northridge and Loyola Marymount University.  In both matches, the Bruins came out victorious.  It has been such a joy, to not only have the opportunity to support Jenny and the girls, but also have the chance to connect with many of the girls parents during these competitions.  In doing so, I have connected with at least 2 sets of parents who were excited to know about our athletic ministry on campus.
