END TIMES

GOING WITH GOD

It's hard to believe another school year is quickly coming to an end.  Our college ministry continues to be a blast as we get to see the Lord do some amazing things in the lives of student-athletes.  Each quarter, our ministry team came up with a different theme/verse to help give focus to our BVL weekly meetings.  In the Fall it was, "Follow Me"{Matthew 4:19}.  During the Winter and Spring quarters, it was "Come To Me"{Matthew 11:28} and "Go With Me" {Acts 1:8}.  Each week throughout the school year, we linked our teaching to a different aspect of these quarterly themes.
For example, this past Tuesday night we felt led to leave the 4 walls of our meeting room to "Go with God" on a prayer walk to demonstrate our dependence on Him for the things we're wanting to see Him do on our campus.  We split the students into 4 smaller groups and rotated them through 4 different stations around campus.  Each station had a unique prayer focus based on a certain aspect of campus life.  For some, this proved to be a faith stretching exercise in that praying out loud in public was a new experience. Yet many took this bold step anyway and were greatly encouraged in the process.

FINISHING STRONG

The 2016 UCLA beach volleyball season finally came to an end last weekend in Gulf Shores, Alabama, site of the NCAA Championships.  Of the eight teams who qualified to participate in this year's tournament, UCLA came in as the 4th seeded team.  Following their opening round loss to the 5th ranked team, Hawaii, the Lady Bruins stormed their way back through the contender's bracket, upsetting the #3 ranked team, Pepperdine University, along the way.  Though they eventually ended up losing in a closely contested match to Florida State in the semi-finals, the Bruins capped off a much improved season by finishing as the 3rd best team in the nation.  Jenny could not be more proud of the girls and in the way they competed, not only throughout this tournament, but throughout the entire season.
