After a nice extended break, school is finally back in session on the UCLA campus.  We are currently 2 weeks into the start of this new quarter and have resumed our BVL weekly fellowship meetings with the student-athletes.  We were pleasantly surprised by the turnout during the fall quarter and have seen very little drop off, thus far.  Last quarter, we were encouraged to see many freshman come through and have enjoyed watching them connect with their peers and experience a genuine faith community right here on their own turf.

ROAD TRIP

Last weekend, Jenny had the unique opportunity of traveling with the women's basketball team to Utah and Colorado.  This 4 day road trip allowed her to spend precious time with both players and coaches.  Whether on the plane, at the team hotel, at practice, or on the team bus, she experienced many great opportunities to connect relationally.  Far beyond what she's able to experience during a "pre-game chapel service".  We are grateful to the LORD for opening this door, allowing Jen to foster these relationships with the ladies on this team.

UPCOMING MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES/PRAYER REQUESTS

  1)  UCLA Men's Fellowship Gathering

Sensing the need, I recently reached out to a number of coaches, staff, and administrators, within the UCLA Athletic Department about getting a men's small group started.  The response has been very encouraging thus far, with as many as 7 guys saying they were interested in being involved in a weekly time of fellowship.  As a result, beginning next week, we will start working through a 10 week video teaching series entitled, "Stepping Up, A Call To Courageous Manhood".  We'll explore what the Scriptures teach around the topic of manhood, but just as important, encourage one another in becoming the men and leaders God has ordained us to be; both inside and outside of our homes.  Can't wait to get started.  Please pray for me as I lead this time and for the lives of those involved to be eternally impacted by the time we spend together.

2)  Also, next Saturday, (1/24), I will be addressing the men of The Vine Church in Eagle Rock, CA, at their Men's Day Retreat.  I'm looking forward to serving these men as I share with them my faith journey as a man in pursuit of the heart of God.
