PASSING THE BATON

S. A. L. T. TRANSITION

This past school year, we invited a hand full of student-athletes to serve on the leadership counsel of our ministry on campus.  We call this group, "S.A.L.T".  (Student-Athlete Leadership Team).  Generally speaking, these students have demonstrated a genuine desire to follow Christ, a willingness to serve others, and a humble and teachable spirit in learning how to become "spiritual leaders" on their respective teams.  Overall, our desire is to see a genuine "Christ follower" on every sport team on campus who would then get involved in the life of our athletic ministry on campus.  Though we certainly are seeing this happen on many levels, there are still some places where we are having to exercise a lot more patience.  Recently we held a short ceremony to welcome the newest members onto this team.  Our goal for doing so was simply to cast vision, encourage them out of God's Word, affirm the qualities we saw in them, and to pray for them as they continue taking steps towards developing themselves spiritually.

on the entire UCLA campus

Reminding the students, though we all have a part to play,
God is ultimately the one who causes the growth.

This crew is ready to make an IMPACT both in & out of competition!

A NIGHT FOR THE SENIORS

Just last week, we said good-bye to 6 seniors who were involved in our athlete fellowship over the past 4 years.  Each were given the opportunity to share how God grew them during their college years and also impart to their younger peers, one thing they wanted to challenge them with.  We then presented them each with a commemorative track baton, with the verse 2 Timothy 2:2 inscribed on them.  What a fun night it was!

NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP #111

Helping their team recently capture UCLA's 111th National Championship,
these 3 amazing tennis players also desire to be Champions for Christ!

PRAISES

On May 21st, I received one of the greatest honors of my life;
baptizing my son at his schools final chapel service of the
year!

REST & RENEWAL

Nearly 60 women involved in sport, traveled from all over the nation this past weekend to attend the Rest & Renewal retreat, held up in Big Bear Mountain.  What a fun time of fellowship these ladies had connecting both with the Lord and one another {so I was told:)}  Jenny was asked to share during one of the main sessions, & from what I heard, there weren't many dry eyes in the room afterwards.  God sure did move......

This year's UCLA crew consisted of a couple current coaches,
along with some current & former Bruin student-athletes.

Fun moment with a few from the Lady Bruin basketball squad.

We really do appreciate your prayers and support of our ministry.  We feel honored & blessed to be used of God in such a way!
